2/9/26: Tightseal’s techs were wonderful. Two guys showed up within the allotted time, set down the plastic to protect the protect, and were done in under an hour. They swept up the small amount of insulation that escaped the plastic AND they swept up the little pieces that escaped their truck.
I was less happy w/ the communication timeline from the sales guy, but not enough to lessen the rating. The crux of my disappointment was that it took 16 days & 3 e-mails/texts to get the pictures the techs took. The tech did ask if I wanted to see the pictures before they left, but I expected they would be sent w/ the invoice (they weren’t). Lesson? If you want the pictures quickly, get it from the techs. 🙂
Anyhoo, after 20 yrs of settling, our attic insulation was only at 8″ (high R20 rating). We finally decided to get it upgraded to current recommendations (18″, approx. R60). Through the experience, I learned the R-rating isn’t about better materials (as I thought), it’s all about the depth of the insulation.
The a/c company who quoted us for the upgrade chose Tightseal, and 3 mos later, when we finally decided to spend the money, we were able to get an appointment quickly. The guys were cool with me taking pictures while they worked, both were friendly, and as I said, in and out quickly. The one up in the attic even offered to sweep up the salt from the bag we used to prop open the door. 🙂
I would recommend Tightseal. Now … we wait & see how it impacts our energy bill now that the scorching, brutal, AZ summer heat is upon us. LOL!
